Pear chutney
added on 21/8/2010 by DaveI made this to go with potted rabbit - it's dead easy to make. The original recipe was to accompany grilled goats cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 red onion
- 2 pears
- Sultanas - about a tablespoon or so
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 tablespoon dark muscovado sugar
- 1 tablespoon redcurrent jelly
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Method
- Cook the onion in olive oil until well browned
- Add the ground spices and stir for 30 seconds
- Add the peeled and chopped pears followed by all the other ingredients
- Cook for 30 minutes or so until the liquid has reduced to form a thickish syrup consistency
